You know, like, trophies and cash money.
The jambalaya is bubbling, Bourbon Street is blaring, and somebody put out a voodoo hex on Rory McIlroy as the PGA Tour heads down to the Big Easy for the 2023 Zurich Classic. The Zurich Classic is one of our favorite events on the tour. Sure, we love the swampy aesthetic of the TPC Louisiana golf course and the gator-golfer interactions it promotes.
And of course, the pairings and the format make this one of the most unique and fun events on the tour. Watching the tension build between teammates as they struggle to play each other’s shots is sweeter than the beignets at Cafe du Monde.
But there are other reasons to love The Classic, 8.6 million of them to be exact. Not to mention a really nifty championship belt buckle. If it’s anything like the 2022 rhodium-plated championship belt buckle, it’s sure to dazzle all the other riders on A Streetcar Named Desire.
2023 Zurich Open Payouts
The total prize purse for the 2023 Zurich Classic is $8.6 million dollars. That’s up $300,000 bucks since last year. And while that may not seem like a significant increase, what with rampant inflation and what have you, that money could easily buy many lifetime supplies worth of Bridgestone RXS Golf Balls. Or at least a weekend’s worth if you’re playing a slice like our Admin.
Since competitors in The Zurich Classic are paired, the payouts below will be split between two players. Drum roll, please…
